Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is not “disease” per se, but is rather identified as a cluster of symptoms which can include (but are not limited to): extreme and persistent fatigue, depression, joint soreness, shortness of breath, difficulty sleeping, lack of vitality, lack of focus and sense of purpose, sub par immune system function (easy in getting infections, slowness in healing), poor digestion and elimination, loss of strength, a feeling of having depleted all resources and a general absence of joie de vivre.

The causal factors can be as complex as the symptoms themselves, and may include chronic physical, emotional and/or mental stress, eating devitalized foods, food allergies, acidosis (from unbalanced acid/alkaline diet), dehydration, depleted adrenal glands, and faulty liver function, among others.

The condition becomes a circular one, with causal factors and symptoms reinforcing and replicating each other.

This is a challenging condition, but the various dis-ease conditions can be reversed with a multi-dimensional treatment program involving alkalizing the diet, incorporation the Six Essentials of Healthy Living into daily life, and lifestyle/spiritual counseling.

Since stress is one of the most powerful causal factors, we must look at SEMO, or Subconscious Emotional Memory Override. In this condition, deeply buried memories, traumas, negative thought patterns and belief systems, become crystallized energy blocks which are stored by the subconscious mind impacting the nervous system. The Bio-Energetic Synchronization Technique, a gentle and effective procedure for clearing the blocks in the body-mind-soul energy systems removes SEMO, updating the brain to present need.

Remember, a clear subconscious no longer interferes with the body’s ability to heal itself. It becomes a clear conduit of healing energy. Once we are clear, we can respond in the moment from our true self, rather than responding from frozen energy from the past. Once we are in the moment, we are available to discover our true essence and life purpose. This is of special significance for Chronic Fatigue sufferers.

THE #1 OBSTACLE TO RELEASING STRESS

What is stress? Is it good or bad? How do we respond or adapt to stress? Do we believe the world is an abundant, friendly place, or a place of lack, limitation and danger. Our experience of what is stressful depends on our perceptions and beliefs.

Stress is any stimulus which produces a change in the body’s current mode of functioning. Without stimulation of any kind, the body is inert. Thus we need stress in order to live, grow and change. Whether the change is beneficial or damaging is up to us, our beliefs and patterns, often acquired in early childhood.

Stress can be physical, mental, emotional, or environmental—any stimulus to which the body must constantly respond. The problem arises when the level of stress is too high, or the duration is too long and the body cannot adapt. In fact, one definition of health is adaptability.   Excessive stress overwhelms the body/mind’s ability to cope, and leaves it in the traumatic survival mode of flight, fight or freeze. We become stuck in reaction, cannot adapt, are overwhelmed, and adrenal exhaustion is the result.

The greatest obstacle preventing us from responding appropriately to the stress of the moment is past patterns embedded in the nervous system as energy blocks. This condition is called Subconscious Emotional Memory Override (SEMO), in which these embedded memories create interference in the nervous system, generating relentless unconscious stress, 24/7.

How does this happen? The conscious, thinking mind (usually called the cortical layer of the brain) is the gateway to the subconscious. It also generates endless thoughts which stimulate emotions that can become stuck and embedded in the subconscious. The subconscious, emotional mind (also referred to as the limbic brain) has the job of evaluating input or stimulus (stress) as a threat or no-threat. If it perceives the stress as a threat (which may be real or distorted by SEMO) it sends signals to the adrenals to release adrenaline, cortisol and other stress hormones. These in turn cause signals creating muscle tension, increase in heart rate and blood pressure, inhibition of digestion, toxic build-up and the inability to heal.

In other words SEMO is shaping our thoughts, feelings, reactions and beliefs, and our beliefs shape our reality, distorted as it may be. No wonder the result is adrenal exhaustion and emotional overwhelm! Adrenal exhaustion leads to sleep disorders, immune and auto-immune conditions, musculo-skeletal disease, hormonal imbalances, heart disease, poor healing response, digestive disorders, depression, energy depletion and much more. This list of stress generated dis-eases should be enough to motivate any of us to approach stress reduction as a major health goal.

The Bio-Energetic Synchronization Technique is one of the most effective tools to identify and gently remove SEMO, and is most effective when combined with making positive lifestyle choices in The Six Essentials. Our choices around these Essentials can continue to cause relentless stress and exhaustion, or help us reduce stress and develop the resilience to meet life’s normal challenges.

Clearing the Nervous System of Trauma

Trauma can be defined as any experience of high intensity or long duration that cannot be fully processed by the body/mind in the moment it occurs. Often, especially in childhood, we may be unaware that we are being traumatized, because we “go numb” when our level of overwhelm is reached. Sadly, many experiences are not recognized as being traumatic to the body/mind, and many years go by with this unresolved material working deeper and deeper into the subconscious mind and nervous system, wreaking havoc with the experiences of physical and mental health, happiness and success, and interfering with the possibility of living life to its fullest potential.

There are several types of trauma:

  1. Physical Trauma, such as accidents, injuries, operations, physical abuse, repetitive movements, poor ergonomics, and faulty body habits (posture).
  2. Emotional/mental/psychological Trauma, such as emotional/psychic shock, emotional/psychological abuse, fear, worry, doubt, life stress and the witnessing of traumatic events.
  3. Chemical Trauma, such as poor diet, high levels of stress chemicals in the body, environmental exposure to toxic waste, toxic household products, perfumes, gardening chemicals, prolonged medication, substance abuse, habitual use of “accepted” toxins (alcohol, tobacco, coffee).
  4. Complex Trauma, such as any combination of the above, any single or combination of sexual, physical, psychological and emotional abuse, dysfunctional childhood, ritual abuse and other such complex life experiences.

Any kinds or combinations of traumatic stressors are stored in the nervous system and limbic brain as an unconscious memory. Some of these memories can be quite complex, deriving from complex or chaotic situations (warfare, life-threatening situations, environmental disasters and so on). Any one of these memories creates a core pattern to which experiences with similar vibrations are added. This often creates a self-fulfilling loop which the person cannot break out of with the conscious mind alone. We will continue to have experiences on the inner (mental/emotional) and outer (life/relationship) levels that match the frequencies of the original traumatic input.

The good news is that trauma can be removed from the nervous system by clearing successive layers that are literally trapped in cellular memory. First we must identify the patterns the body is holding, and then reprogram the memory, placing a positive impulse in its place. The deeper we go, the closer we come to clearing the original trauma at its source!!

The Bio-Energetic Synchronization Technique (B.E.S.T.), as practiced by Dr. Don, is designed to do this work in a gentle, non-invasive manner. Using muscle response testing and a gentle reconnection of specific points, traumatic memories can be identified, and the process of releasing and healing may begin. Dietary and life style changes (The Six Essentials), along with supportive tools can greatly assist in clearing the nervous system of trauma.
