Trauma can be defined as any experience of high intensity or long duration that cannot be fully processed by the body/mind in the moment it occurs. Often, especially in childhood, we may be unaware that we are being traumatized, because we “go numb” when our level of overwhelm is reached. Sadly, many experiences are not recognized as being traumatic to the body/mind, and many years go by with this unresolved material working deeper and deeper into the subconscious mind and nervous system, wreaking havoc with the experiences of physical and mental health, happiness and success, and interfering with the possibility of living life to its fullest potential.
There are several types of trauma:
- Physical Trauma, such as accidents, injuries, operations, physical abuse, repetitive movements, poor ergonomics, and faulty body habits (posture).
- Emotional/mental/psychological Trauma, such as emotional/psychic shock, emotional/psychological abuse, fear, worry, doubt, life stress and the witnessing of traumatic events.
- Chemical Trauma, such as poor diet, high levels of stress chemicals in the body, environmental exposure to toxic waste, toxic household products, perfumes, gardening chemicals, prolonged medication, substance abuse, habitual use of “accepted” toxins (alcohol, tobacco, coffee).
- Complex Trauma, such as any combination of the above, any single or combination of sexual, physical, psychological and emotional abuse, dysfunctional childhood, ritual abuse and other such complex life experiences.
Any kinds or combinations of traumatic stressors are stored in the nervous system and limbic brain as an unconscious memory. Some of these memories can be quite complex, deriving from complex or chaotic situations (warfare, life-threatening situations, environmental disasters and so on). Any one of these memories creates a core pattern to which experiences with similar vibrations are added. This often creates a self-fulfilling loop which the person cannot break out of with the conscious mind alone. We will continue to have experiences on the inner (mental/emotional) and outer (life/relationship) levels that match the frequencies of the original traumatic input.
The good news is that trauma can be removed from the nervous system by clearing successive layers that are literally trapped in cellular memory. First we must identify the patterns the body is holding, and then reprogram the memory, placing a positive impulse in its place. The deeper we go, the closer we come to clearing the original trauma at its source!!
The Bio-Energetic Synchronization Technique (B.E.S.T.), as practiced by Dr. Don, is designed to do this work in a gentle, non-invasive manner. Using muscle response testing and a gentle reconnection of specific points, traumatic memories can be identified, and the process of releasing and healing may begin. Dietary and life style changes (The Six Essentials), along with supportive tools can greatly assist in clearing the nervous system of trauma.
